What’s my personal contribution?

  • Contribute to analyses which add value to News UK by increasing understanding of customer behaviour
  • Embed customer data-based insights in the business, providing quick /proactive turnaround of data
  • Work closely with analysts and AIA Business Partners to support fact-based consumer decisions
  • Develop innovative ideas to improve Customer Analytics ability to drive transformation in News UK applications, products and services
  • Actively model the new ways of working across the organisation

What are my Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Provide analyses of customer engagement data drawn from multiple sources to support detailed performance and effectiveness briefs from marketing and commercial campaigns
  • Deliver analysis of selected customer cohorts in relation to commercial and business propositions or marketing campaigns, set up campaign measurements and recommend evaluation/ testing methodology
  • Contribute to advanced analytics and model building to understand and predict customer behaviour, outcomes and make appropriate recommendations per brief
  • Be available to prioritise the delivery of high priority, fast turnaround briefs from stakeholders
  • Develop customer analytics subject matter expertise and share this with the AIA team and wider stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other AIA teams to provide a ‘joined up’ insights and analytics response to briefs
  • Contribute to business led proposition development and other projects providing subject matter expertise around customer engagement and analytics capability current and potential
  • Participate in regular updates on progress on current briefs so as to engage the business teams with the analysis as it progresses

Useful knowledge, skills and experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business or similar
  • Experience working in an advanced analytics role
  • Customer analytics experience in the media and the news industry
  • Exposure to commercial analytics
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Proficient in SQL, advanced Excel and Tableau skills
  • Experience working with Redshift and Google Big Query
  • Experience working with R
  • Experience using IBM Watson Campaign Automation
  • Experience using Omniture
  • Familiar with internal databases, processes and stakeholders at News UK
  • Able to explain internal tables and processes to new analysts
  • Able to review code and help team members with SQL and Tableau
  • Experience analysing transactional, behavioural, financial, call centre, digital and campaigns data
  • Experience with attribution, incentives, loyalty schemes, the customer lifecycle and campaigns relating to acquisition, in-life and retention
  • Experience working in a central customer analytics team managing a wide net of stakeholders
  • Ability to understand customer data and communicate it in a concise and relevant way to stakeholders
  • Experience managing projects from end-to-end from stakeholder briefs to final analysis and models
  • Ability to work with minimal instruction and oversight, conduct multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Experience building statistical models and using advanced analytic methods including clustering and Markov models
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact and build rapports
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to handle and prioritise multiple requests
  • Good presentation skills – ability to write and present clear and concise analysis using Powerpoint
  • Good knowledge of CRM, data-led marketing and advertising. Experience with online marketing/advertising
  • Willing to learn new frameworks and languages required for the task
